Information You Enter
Search Terms
When you type a name, location, or similar term into a search box supplied by a third-party search partner, that request is sent to the provider that operates the tool. Merced County Inmate Population does not store those search terms on its own system.
Messages
If you email us or send a contact message, we keep the information needed to read and answer it. We do not share those messages outside our organization unless a valid legal requirement makes disclosure necessary.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, this site may collect routine technical data when pages load. That data can include:
- The IP address used to reach the site.
- The browser name and version.
- The device type and operating system.
- The pages opened and approximate time spent on them.
- The referring website, when one is passed to us.
- Date and time stamps for visits and requests.
Cookies
Cookies and similar tools may be used to understand site traffic and visitor behavior. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, but some site or partner features may work differently when cookies are disabled.
How Information Is Used
- To keep the site available, stable, and reasonably fast.
- To send search requests to the partner service selected by the visitor.
- To understand which Merced County jail, court, and facility pages are useful.
- To diagnose broken links, display problems, and other technical issues.
- To support advertising that may be based on general interests or browsing activity.
Links Away From This Site
Merced County Inmate Population links to jail rosters, sheriff pages, court resources, CDCR CIRIS, BOP and ICE locators, government portals, and third-party search tools. Once you leave this site, the privacy policy and data practices of the destination site control.
Advertising partners may also use their own systems to recognize activity across websites and show interest-based ads. Those tracking and advertising choices are handled by the partner, not by Merced County Inmate Population.
